Preaching Ministry

Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season

The preaching & teachings of god's word

We believe that the Bible, in its entirety, is God’s divinely authoritative revelation to mankind, and that it is uniquely “living and active,” inspired and infused with life-giving, life-transforming power by the Holy Spirit.  We are committed to the expositional teaching and preaching of God’s Word. This means that we generally teach through a given book of the Bible from start to finish so that every passage is seen in relation to its context.

We also believe there are times when it is appropriate and necessary to address certain topics. In all topical teaching and preaching just as in expositional teaching and preaching through books of the Bible, our sole authority is the Bible itself, the Word of God.  (Isaiah 55:8-11; John 16:12-15; 1 Corinthians 2:6-16; 2 Timothy 3:16-4:4; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20-21).

For these reasons, the preaching and teaching of God’s Word occupies a central and prominent place in the Sunday worship service of Liberty Community Church. The preaching of God’s Word is fundamental to the life and health of the church. Through the preaching of the Scriptures the gathered church receives direction, stability, maturity and growth.

Expository Preaching

The principle style & structure of most sermons at Liberty Community Church is expository.
The Christians at Liberty Community Church are guided and impacted through a weekly, pulpit-preaching ministry where the Scriptures are proclaimed in an expository manner as the biblical meaning of the text is accurately explained in context and applied appropriately to the modern listener (2 Tim 4:1-5). Sermons at Liberty Community Church aim to be Biblical, accurate, and practical.

The goal of preaching at Liberty Community Church is not simply the explanation of information, but the desire for heart transformation. Expositional preaching must actively engage the listeners and compel them in order that their lives might be changed.

We encourage you to bring your Bible to church. We typically preach from the English Standard Version. ESV Bibles are available in the community room. Please ask a greeter if you need a Bible.

Our church’s primary teacher is Rob Borkowitz, who serves as Pastor-Teacher.
