The New Testament pattern is two offices in the church: Elder and Deacon. Elders lead, teach, and oversee. Deacons serve, assist, minister, and care for God’s people. There is much confusion in the church today about the office of deacon. This sermon explores what the Bible teaches about deacons and the key role that deacons can play in the church to promote unity, church growth, ministry, and the advancement of the Word of God and His church. The high elder-like qualification for the deacons are explored, along with the role of women in the New Testament church.
