Baptism

Believer's Baptism

Before ascending into heaven, Jesus told His disciples to go out into the world and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19-20). At Liberty Community Church, we believe in a believers baptism by immersion under water.

Baptism is not a means of salvation. It is however a public proclamation of your faith in Jesus Christ – an outward expression of an inward change – a way to identify and signify that you have committed your life to Christ. Baptism also serves as a symbol of our death to our old life of sin and our new birth into resurrection life and freedom (Romans 6:3-4)

We do this because of Jesus’ example. Shortly before his public ministry began, Jesus was baptized by his cousin John the Baptist. So we do this out of obedience to follow Christ’s example and command (Matthew 3:16)

Baptism

Is a symbol and an ordinance

Illustrates Christ’s burial and resurrection; and our new life as a Christian. (1 Cor 15:3-4; II Cor 5:17; Rom 6:4)

Baptism doesn’t make you a believer – it shows that you already believe. Baptism doesn’t save you, only faith in Christ does that. Baptism is like a wedding ring – it is the outward symbol of the commitment to Christ you made in your heart.

Baptistm

Is an act of obedience, identification, and a witness/

Every person who believes in Christ should be baptized.  There is no reason to delay. As soon as you have accepted and trusted Christ  you can and should be baptized.  (Acts 2:41; Acts 8:12; Acts 8:35-38).

At Liberty Community Church, we baptize during a meeting of the church in obedience to the command of our Lord, and as a testimony of the transforming power of the gospel.
